New Email Forward
We are changing the method that's used to provide Email Forward accounts.
The change will result in all of the current "unitxxx@ocbsa.org" Email forwards being removed.
All units, districts, and special web sites that currently have a web site subdomain (xxxxx.ocbsa.org) will have a new Email forward.
Any web site that is not hosted under the "ocbsa.org" domain will not be provided with an Email forward.
The new Email forward will be in the following format: pack999@pack999.ocbsa.org or troop999@troop999.ocbsa.org, etc. with the Email being forwarded to the personal Email address of the webmaster only.
All webmasters have received an Email announcing the change and many have already performed a test Email to insure that the change is in place and functioning. If you have not tested your Email forward please do so by sending a test message to your new Email forward and then verifying that you receive the message in your personal Email account which you used when you registered as the webmaster of your unit. If you encounter any problems please notify me at: itcomm.ocbsa@gmail.com
It is strongly suggested that the Email forward be used on the unit/district web site instead of your personal Email address. This will aid in visitors being able to make contact with the unit webmaster.
Please note that the Email address that I've been using "itcomm@ocbsa.org" will also change to "itcomm.ocbsa@gmail.com". Please make note of this change immediately. The old Email forwards will be deleted in approximately two weeks from today.

Empty Sites
When a webmaster requests that a web site be created for a unit it is expected that there is a need for the site and that content will be posted shortly. Our policies require that a minimum content be posted to the site within 2 weeks of the webmaster being notified that the site's ready to receive content. Sites that do not have any content posted to them within a 2 week period will be removed from the server.
In addition, sites that have content that is out of date and are not being maintained may also be removed.
Webmasters should take note that they are responsible to insure that the contents of their sites must be maintained with either a calendar or a list of of upcoming events. A complete list of the requirements is available in the policies on this web site. Posted 6/22/10
Web Site Hand-Overs
Webmasters are reminded that when they step down as the webmaster, the new (incoming) webmaster MUST fill out the Site Request form to have the website turned over to them. Webmasters who violate this policy and turn the site over to someone else who has not submitted the site request form will find their site locked until the policy is followed. Any Email forward in place when a webmaster leaves - and a new webmaster steps in without submitting the web site request form, will be removed and the unit will not have an Email account until the new webmaster is properly registered as the webmaster.
